About
King of the Pack in Port Kembla, New South Wales, is your typical local tobacconist with a bit of a mixed reputation. They’ve got a huge range of smokes and tobacco products, and visitors say they’re known for having some of the best prices in the area. If you’re after a bargain on your usual smoke, this might be worth checking out.
The shop keeps pretty decent hours, opening bright and early at 6:30 AM Monday through Friday, with a slightly later start on weekends – 7:30 AM on Saturdays and 8 AM on Sundays. They close up at 7:30 PM most days, except Sunday when they wrap things up at 6:30 PM. Just keep in mind though, we’ve heard they sometimes close a few minutes earlier than advertised, so maybe don’t cut it too fine.
When it comes to customer service, well, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Some visitors reckon they’ve had ripper experiences with friendly, professional staff who go above and beyond. Others… not so much. We’ve heard a few stories about staff being a bit short with customers, and there have been some complaints about pricing mix-ups that weren’t handled well. It’s probably worth double-checking your receipt before leaving the store, just to be on the safe side.
They stock all your usual tobacconist gear – cigarettes, rolling papers, lighters, and such. The shop also apparently does gift items, which could be handy if you’re in a pinch and need a last-minute pressie. You can pay by card, cash, or EFTPOS, so no worries there.
Look, it’s not perfect, but if you’re after decent prices on tobacco products and don’t mind potentially variable service, it might be worth giving it a burl. Just remember to keep your wits about you with the pricing, and maybe avoid going right before closing time.
