About
Convenience Tobacco in Coniston, New South Wales, is your typical local tobacconist stocking all the usual suspects – cigarettes, rolling papers, and lighters. Just remember to bring cash with you though, as we’ve heard they’ve recently stopped taking EFTPOS payments.
They’re open pretty much all week, running from 8 in the morning until 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday, and they start a bit later on Sundays at 9 am. Though fair warning, some visitors have mentioned that opening hours can be a bit hit-or-miss sometimes. You might rock up to find the shop temporarily closed, usually just for a quick minute while the shopkeeper takes a bathroom break, but it’s worth the short wait.
The shop’s been around for yonks and has built up quite a following among locals. Some reckon it’s the best tobacconist in the Gong, which is saying something. Mind you, it would be handy if they had a contact number you could ring ahead – saves you making the trek only to find you’re a couple of dollars short, as one regular pointed out.
While the shop has its loyal customers, there have been mixed reviews about reliability. Some days you might find the doors closed during regular business hours, which can be a bit of a pain if you’re making a special trip. Still, when they’re open, they provide what you need, and that’s what counts, right? Best to maybe plan your visit during peak hours when you’re more likely to catch them open.
Look, it’s not fancy, but it does the job. If you’re after your basic tobacco supplies and don’t mind carrying cash, this place will sort you out. Just maybe keep in mind that timing can be everything when planning your visit to this local establishment.
