Cloud 9 Smoke Shop Hay St

Cloud 9 Smoke Shop on Hay St in Perth, Western Australia, is a handy little spot for anyone after a bit of the unusual. Listed as a novelty store, it’s pulled in a solid 4.2 rating across 100 reviews, which is a pretty fair innings for any shop. It’s open from 11am to 5pm Monday right through to Saturday, then shuts up for the day on Sundays, so if you’re planning a weekend wander down, best to make it a Saturday rather than a Sunday.

The service here gets plenty of love from the regulars, and one name keeps popping up: Mike. A few visitors reckon he’s incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, the sort of bloke who’ll answer all your questions with a bit of patience and explain things clearly. One happy customer even mentioned coming in to replace something they’d broken and getting sorted out without any fuss. Another reckoned the staff are pretty much like family, which is a nice wrap for a local shop and the kind of welcome that keeps folks coming back.

Mind you, it’s not all smooth sailing. A couple of reviewers have had the opposite experience, with one customer reckoning they couldn’t get a straight answer when they came in after a dab rig, even pointing at a brand on the shelf. So it seems the experience can swing a bit depending on who’s behind the counter and what you’re chasing. There’s also been the odd gripe about timing, with one passerby having a laugh about a “back in 10” sign that seemed to stretch out a fair bit longer than ten minutes.

All up, Cloud 9 Smoke Shop is a much-needed addition to the Hay St strip, and plenty of locals are clearly chuffed to have it around. If you’re after the kind of bits and bobs a novelty store stocks and you don’t mind popping in during their daytime hours, it’s worth a squiz. Just keep in mind those midweek-to-Saturday hours and the Sunday closure, and you’ll likely walk out happy, especially if you catch one of the more clued-up staff on the day.
