About
Glendalough News & Tobacconist in Glendalough, Western Australia is your typical corner store with a bit of everything thrown in. Most visitors reckon the staff are pretty friendly and helpful, though like any shop, you might catch them on an off day. The store’s got your usual tobacconist gear – cigarettes, rolling papers, and lighters – plus they’re a proper newsagent with magazines and puzzle books. Speaking of puzzle books, they’ve got quite a decent collection if that’s your thing, though the magazine range isn’t what it used to be (but hey, who reads magazines these days anyway?).
One thing that’s pretty sweet about this place is they’ve got Lotto tickets, and some folks have had a bit of luck with their wordplay scratches. I heard one regular always grabs one when they’re in the neighbourhood – must be onto something there! They also stock various other bits and bobs you’d expect from a local newsagent. The shop itself isn’t huge, but they make do with what they’ve got.
They’re open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 6pm, and Sundays from 8am to 1pm, though you might want to give them a few minutes grace period in the morning – you know how it goes sometimes. They take all sorts of payments – EFTPOS, cards, and cash, so you’re covered whatever your preference.
While most people seem to have good experiences with the service, like any local shop, it can be a bit hit and miss. Some days you’ll get really friendly, helpful service, and other days might be a bit different. Still, it’s a handy little spot if you’re in the area and need to grab your smokes or try your luck with a lottery ticket. Oh, and I’ve heard they’ve got some pretty reasonable prices on cigarettes too, which is always a bonus in these expensive times.
