Spencer Street Convenience Store

Spencer Street Convenience Store in West Melbourne, Victoria, is a handy little spot that ticks a fair few boxes — part tobacco shop, part cigar shop, part coffee stop and confectionery store all rolled into one. If you’re after your smokes, a quick drink, a coffee or a bit of something sweet, this is the kind of place you can duck into without any fuss. By the looks of the reviews, it’s well loved too, sitting on a cracking 4.7 rating from around 70 reviews, which is no small feat for a local convenience store.

The doors are open seven days a week, so you won’t be caught short. Monday through Friday they kick off early at 7am and stay open right through until 10pm, while on Saturdays and Sundays they have a slightly later start at 9am, again running till 10pm. Those long hours make it a proper go-to whether you’re an early bird grabbing your morning coffee or popping in late for a few bits and pieces.

The big talking point in the reviews is the welcome you get. A lovely lady named Dianne gets a heap of mentions, with folks reckoning she’s super welcoming and genuinely kind — one group of travellers from interstate even said she helped them out and kept them out of the rain, giving her a solid 10 out of 10. Plenty of visitors describe the store as clean, tidy and smelling nice, with a friendly face there to greet you. A few people mentioned feeling safe and welcomed walking in, which says a lot about the vibe.

Now, it’s not all sunshine — a couple of folks have had the odd grumble, including one visitor who reckoned the service was a bit rude during a key handover, and another who raised concerns about the smokes. But these are the exceptions in a sea of glowing five-star reviews. Overall, this is the sort of welcoming little gem that locals and passers-by alike seem chuffed to have nearby, especially with those generous seven-day hours making it easy to swing by whenever you need.
