Smokemart Howrah

Smokemart Howrah in Tasmania is a bright and welcoming tobacconist that’s become a bit of a local favourite. Located just a few steps from the Australia Post, this shop has managed to stick around through thick and thin, even surviving five years of Covid and economic ups and downs. They’ve got a ripper selection of products, with visitors saying you can find all sorts of special items from both near and far, plus your usual tobacco products and accessories.

The shop keeps things neat as a pin and well-organized, making it easy to find what you’re after. We’ve heard the prices are pretty reasonable too, with quite a few customers mentioning it’s generally cheaper than the corner shops. The staff are known for being helpful with recommendations to help you save a buck or two, which is always appreciated.

When it comes to customer service, most visitors reckon it’s top-notch. The staff are typically described as friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to lend a hand with whatever you need. One customer even shared how they were treated like royalty when they came in with a broken leg in a wheelchair! Though, like any shop, they’ve had their off days with the occasional grumble about service.

They’re pretty convenient with their trading hours too. Open bright and early at 7am Monday through Saturday (9am on Sundays), they stay open until 6pm most days, with late night trading until 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays. Sundays they close up at 5pm, which gives you plenty of time to pop in when it suits. The shop accepts all the usual payment methods including EFTPOS, card, and cash.

For gift shoppers, they’ve apparently got some beauty options for stocking fillers and Secret Santa presents. Overall, it’s a clean, well-stocked establishment that’s earned its place in the community. Just remember to bring your ID if you’re looking a bit young, as they’re pretty strict about checking, which is fair enough really.
