Freechoice Tobacconist , Gifts & Accessories

Freechoice Tobacconist, Gifts & Accessories sits right in the heart of Devonport, Tasmania, and it’s shaping up to be a handy little spot for locals after their tobacco supplies and a bit more besides. As the name suggests, this isn’t just your standard smokes-and-papers shop
ation and and accessories thrown into the mix, so it’s the sort of place you can pop into for your usual gear and walk out with a novelty bit and bob too. With a solid 4-star rating from the early reviews, it seems to be making a decent first impression on the folks who’ve wandered through.

The shop keeps pretty reliable hours throughout the week, opening up bright and early at 7:30am Monday through Friday and staying open until 5:30pm, so there’s plenty of time to swing by before or after work. On Saturdays they start a touch later at 8am and wrap up at 4pm, while Sundays they’re open for a shorter stint from 10am through to 3pm. All up, that means you can drop in seven days a week, which is handy if you’ve run out on a lazy weekend.

What keeps coming up time and again in the reviews is the staff. Visitors reckon the team here are genuinely friendly and good to deal with, with the service getting plenty of warm mentions. One regular even pointed out the great variety on offer, noting there’s loads of novelty things to browse alongside the usual goods. It’s the kind of welcoming, easygoing vibe that makes a local shop worth coming back to.

Now, it’s worth a heads up that not everyone’s had a perfect run. One visitor, while still praising the wonderful staff, mentioned that the incense burning in the store left them coughing and struggling a bit, which put them off heading inside. So if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing, it’s something to keep in mind. All in all though, Freechoice in Devonport comes across as a friendly, well-stocked little spot with a community feel, and the consistent praise for the staff says a fair bit about how they look after their customers.
