Newstead Tobacconist and Convenience Store

Newstead Tobacconist & Convenience Store in Queensland has become a bit of a local fixture, though opinions about the place tend to be a mixed bag. The store’s got that classic bodega feel that some visitors reckon was exactly what the neighborhood needed. They’re open from 8 in the morning right through to 10 PM most weekdays, and if you’re looking for a late-night spot on weekends, they keep their doors open until midnight.

The team behind the counter has definitely made an impression on the locals. We’ve heard plenty of stories about their friendly, helpful nature, with some visitors giving them top marks for their welcoming attitude. It’s the kind of place where you can have a proper chat while you’re picking up your smokes. The staff seem to know their stuff and are always ready to give you a hand with whatever you’re after.

When it comes to what’s on the shelves, they’ve got your typical tobacconist goods like cigarettes, rolling papers, and lighters. Some visitors reckon they’ve got a really great product range, though there have been a few hiccups. Like any shop, they’ve had their share of ups and downs. There was this one time someone mentioned getting some dodgy RYO tobacco that went off pretty quick, which isn’t ideal. And yeah, prices can be a bit steep on certain items – we’ve heard that some products might set you back more than what you’d pay in the city.

The store takes EFTPOS, cards, and cash, so you won’t need to worry about making a special trip to the ATM. Just keep in mind that while they advertise opening at 8 AM, there have been occasional instances where they’ve opened a touch later. Might be worth giving them a bell if you’re planning an early morning visit. Overall, while it mightn’t be perfect, it’s still managing to serve the local community and has its fair share of regular customers who keep coming back.
