About
Darwin’s Main Tobacconist in Durack, Northern Territory, is your typical neighborhood smoke shop that’s gotten a bit of a mixed rap lately. They’ve got the usual suspects when it comes to smokes and tobacco products – your standard cigarettes, rolling papers, and lighters. The shop’s also wheelchair accessible, which is a nice touch for those who need it.
Price-wise, some visitors reckon they’re saving a fair bit of dough shopping here – one regular customer mentioned putting away about 200 bucks a fortnight, which isn’t too shabby. The store keeps pretty decent hours too, running from 9 to 6 Monday through Saturday, and they’re even open Sundays from 11 to 3 if you need to duck in for something.
Now, about the customer service… well, it’s been a bit hit and miss lately. While some folks have had ripper experiences with friendly staff, others haven’t been so lucky. We’ve heard quite a few stories about less-than-stellar interactions, particularly with one staff member who some customers found a bit difficult to deal with. It’s probably worth mentioning that experiences seem to vary quite a bit depending on when you visit.
For payments, they take all the usual suspects – EFTPOS, cards, and cash. Just remember to hang onto your receipt if you need it later (learned that one from someone else’s story). The shop’s got most of what you’d expect from a tobacconist, though availability of specific products can be a bit unpredictable sometimes.
I reckon it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area, especially if you’re after decent prices on your smokes. Just maybe pick your timing right and don’t forget to grab that receipt on your way out.
