King Street Tobacconist

King Street Tobacconist in Newtown, NSW has become a bit of a local legend, and it’s easy to see why. The place has transformed from its newsagency days into a proper tobacco specialist, and they’ve really made a name for themselves with their impressive range of smoking accessories and tobacco products. Visitors say the variety here is absolutely bonkers – you’ll find pretty much everything you’d expect from a top-notch tobacconist, plus heaps more.

What really sets this place apart is the staff. They’re genuine characters who know their stuff inside and out. I’ve heard countless stories about their friendly service, like one customer who had an issue with a product and was sorted out quick smart, with the staff going above and beyond to make things right. They’re the kind of people who remember your face and always have time for a chat.

Price-wise, you’ll find they’re pretty reasonable compared to other shops in the area. We’ve heard from plenty of regulars who reckon the value for money here is spot on, especially given the quality of what they’re selling. They accept all the usual payment methods – cards, EFTPOS, and cash, so you’re covered however you like to pay.

One thing that’s particularly handy about this joint is their opening hours. They’re open from 9:30 AM till midnight Monday through Thursday, and they even extend their hours on weekends – 8 AM to 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, with Sundays running from 8:30 AM to midnight. Perfect for those late-night emergency tobacco runs.

The shop’s got a bit of character too – visitors often mention their unique “wall of shame” featuring photos of shoplifters, which has become something of a local talking point. It’s these little quirks that make the place feel more like a neighborhood institution than just another tobacco shop. Whether you’re a regular smoker or just need to stock up on the basics, you’ll find what you need here, served up with a smile and zero judgment.
