About
King of the Pack Katoomba in New South Wales is your typical local tobacconist, though recent visitors have had mixed experiences with the place. They stock the usual suspects you’d expect to find at a smoke shop: cigarettes, rolling papers, lighters, and a few other bits and bobs including confectionery, though we’ve heard the lolly selection might not be kept in the best condition.
The shop keeps fairly consistent hours throughout the week, opening at 7am Monday through Friday, and starting a touch later at 7:30am on weekends. They close up at 7pm during the week and 7:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, which gives you plenty of time to pop in for what you need. Just keep in mind that while some older signs might say they open at 6am, visitors tell us that’s not actually the case anymore.
One thing that’s been a bit of a sticking point with customers is the pricing situation. We’ve heard from quite a few visitors that the prices run on the steep side, and what’s more frustrating is that many items don’t have clear price labels. This can make shopping a bit of a guessing game, which isn’t ideal when you’re trying to watch your wallet.
The store accepts EFTPOS, card payments, and cash, so you’ve got options when it comes time to pay. While it’s not the fanciest shop in Katoomba, it serves its purpose as a local tobacco retailer. The overall shopping experience could use some improvements though, especially when it comes to price transparency and customer service, which some visitors reckon could be better. If you’re in the area and need tobacco products, it might be worth checking out other options first, but this place will do in a pinch if you’re nearby.
