AJ Tobacconists in Armidale, New South Wales is a little tobacco shop that’s earned a fairly mixed wrap from the locals who’ve popped in. Sitting on a 3.7 rating from a baker’s dozen of reviews, it’s the sort of spot that some folks absolutely rave about while others have walked away shaking their heads. As you’d expect from a tobacconist, it’s your local stop for ciggies and the usual supplies, so it’s handy enough if you’re after a quick grab around town.

Hours-wise, the shop’s set up to keep long days through the week, with the doors meant to swing open at 7am and stay that way until 7pm Monday through Friday. Saturdays they wrap up a touch earlier at 6pm, and Sundays they run a more relaxed 9am to 5pm. Worth noting, though, that a few visitors have grumbled about the place not always being open when those posted hours say it should be, so it might pay to factor that in if you’re making a special trip.

When it comes to service, it really is a tale of two camps. Plenty of happy customers reckon the service is always friendly and great, with one even calling it a ripper little shop with excellent value.
